I see the Galleries are still accessable on the AA website, but the recent forum posts seem to have gone, as the archived one still dates up to 2007, except for a recent post by Lonkey. I'd still like to refer to them now and again if possible.

Agree with Steve it was useful to have the archive as a reference ,big thanks to Al though for getting it all up and running again.

This question has never been answered.

Since all the previous forums must have been stored on a hard drive and it is so easy to back things up I am still wondering where all that information has gone?

I have always viewed this site as a unique and historical archive of our past. Much of the information was historicaly important and the photography of the items was an integral part of that. It is tragic if all that information has just vanished into cyberspace

Hi Folks,

I am currently trying to fix the old forums. Yes the information is there but the structure of it is broken. I am paying someone £50 per hour to try and sort it, but at the moment we are no closer to an answer.

All the images have been transferred to this site and will all go into one massive photo archive in the next few months. I have two people working on the data entry side of things at the moment.

This new site is a cross between Facebook, myspace and Ebay. Its just taking time and money to tie it all in. Please be patient. With the new gallery system i am working on, it will be the worlds largest searchable and uploadable archive of advertising online. Think of Wikipedia for old tat!

Cheers

Al.

Thanks for the information Al. It's a relief to know that it is all there and that bigger and better things are coming. For what it's worth I commend you on your efforts to putting the site back together. You are like the Florence Nightingale of old advertising. I see a knighthood in your future.

Boy did I ever pick the wrong line of work to get into. 50 pounds an hour, that's insane.
