Latest purchase: Double sided, rarer 1930s, 15" smaller version.

Found under lino in a shepherds hut, covering a hole in the floor!

Thanks Marcus. Probably saved it more than anything. I'm not sure if it ever saw the elements as the mounting holes don't have any chipping. The photos don't do it justice, it's one of the glossiest signs I've seen. Very happy with it.

Cheers Brian, so far been a good start to the year.
The former owner had it for 20 years so pleased to have acquired it.
I still find it amazing how they turn up on good condition nearly 100 years old!

Amazing feeling finding signs in there natural habitat, rather than on Ebay.

Sorry guys to shatter the illusion, the owner found it while restoring his shepherds hut, not me (great story though, there's a film in there somewhere, IMAX obviously, Tom Cruise can play me, although i do all my own stunts ..... i just bought it on Evilbay with cold hard cash, well digital money transfered from the Santander joint account. (after the pain of telling the wife i've bought yet another sign within a month)
i'd love to be out there finding stuff, Barbour head to toe, in the dirt, minus 10, snot icicles a foot long dangling from my nose. Digging 10ft holes down with my teeth, with only ted the wippet for company, in the dead of night with a Olight 1000 lumen head torch hoping for a glint of prize enamel. But i'd have no idea where to look, I'd probably cut through a power cable and take out half the SouthEast. Together with me being a lazy bastard, can't even get out of bed for a bloody local boot fair 5 minutes down the road! Sorry to say, i'm what you call a "checkbook" collector, refreshing the ebay page every minute, sitting in my Eames lounge chair, feet up on the ottoman, with a nice hot brew, hoping to bag that bargain sign listed "buy it now" by some smuck with no idea what they've got ..... but best fess up, cards laid bare on the table ... i'm a fraud, imposter, fake, double-dealing skunk.
I feel i've let you all down now and feel I'm about to be kicked out of the inner circle of trust. But i really love the smell of Autoglym polish, the crumbly texture of bar keepers friend, oh the gloss! ..... walks away head held low, into the wildernesses, the shame ... where did i leave my Walther PPK?

Well ,that made me laugh out loud , Mark . That is a very funny post , best thing i've read for months actually . You don't have to apologise , because nobody comes on here now anyway , there can't be more than a couple of dozen diehards left now . I would love to be proved wrong but I doubt I will . Gordo will like it , i'm sure , it's just his sort of thing .

I find it hard to imagine that a few people have never found an enamel sign whilst following the hobby..i find it even more harder to imagine finding a sign in Any condition part of some ones bucket list..

Banjo boy, interesting discussion …. Do you think someone isn’t a “genuine” collector unless you find your own signs?
Would be interested in others thoughts as well.
I'd never have amassed my collection for it not for eBay. I've only ever purchased two signs from dealers as they all seem to add 100% markup. Likewise, I'm a picky git and it would be impossible to find quality signs "in the flesh" personally. Just my two pence.

NO not at all Mark,,far from it..Each to their own on however they manage to get Any sign..good luck i say to Everyone..These signs are out there for folk to buy, swap or better still find..Its so easy nowadays to get a sign..Auctions,Ebay and a big pocket of cash you can get any sign you wish if need be..No hunt,no chase,no juggling and not much else really..(not even any need to clean in lots of cases)..i personally still love trying to find them, shagged ones, bland ones, mint ones..its a buzz!!
