I once owned this many years ago - how I came by it is a story ! - My Washing machine broke down and I had to call in a bloke to fix it - when he arrived he noticed the signs in my kitchen (not very good then) and said :

"I Have on old sign in my shed - I nearly took it to th tip last week but i've been busy - I have to get a part for the machine  - I'll bring it with me and you can have a look "

He came back 2 hrs later with this under his arm ...................... and said "You owe me £45 for the repair - so let's round it up to £50 with the sign ...........I agreed ..................then later sold it !!!! (Bugger)

I was down the Forest of Dean about 15 years ago when i found three or four of these in a pile. the first one was shot, the second OK but no face. the next good gloss with a pale face and the last was pretty good.

I think SF had them off me one at a time.

Always had a soft spot for these and ones in this condition really are great, an underrated sign in my opinion.

cheers

Al.

I agree Al, under rated for such a great looking sign. For those who haven't seen it, here's the one I picked up not long ago. A bit of restoration, but what do you expect for a sign well over a 100 years old...... and mine was nearly free too.
