Personally, I would not ship overseas. Some overseas bidders know that if they claim "not as described" once their purchase arrives, Ebay will lock up the seller's Paypal account until the dispute is resolved, forcing the seller to make a price concession. The seller can tell the buyer to return the item, but it will be at the seller's expense. Even a lighter weight item sent overseas will be expensive to get back. |

John, most overseas buyers do the right thing and will possibly make sure you put more in your hip pocket. I always say "Check my feedback, I guarantee a hassle free transaction" Gordo |

Hello John,
I agree with Gordo on this subject. A lot of my collection has come via eBay from overseas and without it I certainly would not have what I've got.
Making sure you do the right thing is absolutely imperative. To say that overseas buyers would deliberately object to an item is a bit spurious. I can assure there have been many occasions where I have opened a parcel to find the item has definitely not been as described but for the sake of maintaining a good feedback I have said nothing.
In general the majority of sellers certainly would want to do the right thing and the same goes for the buyers, of which I am one. I rely on the overseas market to get the majority of my goods and sometimes you have to take one for the sake of it.
Rest assured we are not all a pack of drongos who are here to rip you off.
Regards, George Grant (Rustycutters)

No blanket indictment of every overseas Ebayer was intended. I am one myself, and frequently purchase from the UK and other European sellers. . However Mr. Grant, you seem to be speaking from a buyer's perspective. The problem I describe is when you are the seller, and an overseas buyer claims "not as described". This happened to me with a buyer who had 100% positive feedback. The "not as description" he claimed was impossible, and he would not respond to questions like "was the box damaged?" or "can I see the supposed broken pieces". Rather than eat the cost of shipping it back, I elected to refund a third of his payment. Otherwise my Paypal account would have stayed frozen. If I'm not mistaken, our host on this site had a similar experience where an overseas buyer claimed that the sign he sent her was not an original, and could she have a reduction. Certainly looked like an original to me from the pic.

it certainly has happened to me in the past. Thanks to www.interparcel.com you can get items back a lot cheaper now you can arrange foreign pick ups from a UK website. As RustyCutters says though, you have to take the rough with the smooth and hope you win overall. Cheers. Al. |

I don't see how a buyer can ever have less than 100% positive feedback under Ebay's present system!.
It might be useful if the showed how many chargebacks a buyer had instigated and even give sellers the abiltiy to block buyers with a certain number |

I think people should be flagged up that claim they don't receive stuff. More than three strikes and the can't claim again for a while. Just lost another £50 this week to a foreign buyer. Al. |

If the item is sent via a courier where a signature is required and it's tracked to the delivery address and signed for, how can they then claim they haven't had it? |

I don't think most buyers would spend that much money on posting a toy car unfortunately. People complain if I charge them 30p over on some items. Al. |

I'm sure that some of my followers have realised I no longer sell on ebay.
This is due to Ebay stopping me indefinitely due to adverse Detailed Seller Ratings.
Unfortunately I am not allowed to see or respond to these individuals' feedback.
However I am allowed to watch and buy!
Check my status as new_valleyboy-yes 100% positive feedback. |
