I thought this was an interesting piece of advertising memorabilia. I picked it up for a couple of pounds at a Saturday morning garage sale. It's solid stone and incredibly heavy. I realize now that I know very little about the printing process of the advertising that consumes so much of my spare time. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi there,

I believe they would protect the letters with wax and then use an acid to eat away around them leaving a raised printing area. I bought a great one for pork pies and leaft it on a stall it was so heavy. I then left the show without it so I rang Steve burton to pick it up for me. I don't think he was too impressed with the weight either. Great bloke for picking it up though.

Al.
