 Oh yes big time !

Full on crashed my Mountain bike .
Way into the bush in the Mountains near home .

Breaking the Golden rule and riding alone ... again .
Found myself upside down with a broken wrist ..

Screamed like a Banshee at first.. then got it together ,  sat against a tree and assessed the situation .. No phone signal . What now ?

I carry a snake bandage , so fashioned a sling from that . Painstakingly cut  my glove off with a pen knife and figured out my best way back to the CRV .

Sat for the longest ten minutes to get my wits back  . Decided to get out the way I came in on the Single track , to avoid the alternative shorter route, a dangerously steep and slippery Fire trail

Walked out  wheeling my bike , in just under 2 hours , had to sit a few times on the way .. dizzy and scared I would  black out .

Luckily my CRV is automatic , so was able to call my wife  " Jesus Chris what've you done ?  " , and drive to the Doctors office ..

By this time my wrist was woefully sore and hugely swollen and bless his heart a shot of Morphine was the next step ..  ..

Now it seemed like some romantic adventure I was on . Doc put a partial cast on ... too swollen for a full one .. My son arrived to drive me home for a shower while the Morphine was still working , then off for an Xray to confirm 2 fractures. ..

Now I have a full cast I need to wear for 6 weeks , the Morphine has worn off and I feel kind of foolish ..

Anti inflammatories and Panadeine Forte will have to suffice , but I still have the memory of my recent  great adventure .. and  still wondering .. Why Me ?

Cheers

Oh no! Get better soon. As a keen biker myself I feel your pain. Bikes are the most awkward shaped objects at the best of times and that long walk of shame in rigid soled cycling shoes......

Glad you are back and in one piece tho!

Get well soon.

Al.
