Hello to everybody,

I know this subject has been covered before, however, I am posting a couple of pictures for viewing. I apologise in advance regarding the picture quality but the light in my shed is poor and it is difficult to get good pictures sometimes.

Here is a Cooper Blow Fly with a slight variation in style.

Last but not least.

This one is of a Cooper sign with small Cooper signs around the edge. All the little signs are from old sheep dips that were used up until about the mid 1970s. The signs were attached to an apparatus called a sheep shower wherein the sheep stood whilst they were saturated with water and sheep dip. Once some of those old dip solutions were banned the "showers" became redundant.

All of the signs in this picture are slightly different in some way, be it writing or colour and are quite collectable in Australia.

By the way the large Cooper sign is a South African one and the product it advertises was banned in the USA in 1908 and in Australia in the 1930s.

Hello Joe,

Thanks for your kind comments. The sign on the left came from the UK about 18 months ago and was completely wrecked, I had to weld a bit onto the top, clean up the face, which was covered in a sort of rust looking substance, and the whole thing only cost me 30 quid plus postage. Very happy about that of course but it was knackered when I got it.

Of late I have restored 10 signs and I've got six to go. I took several restored signs to the Ballarat Swap Meet over the weekend but as soon as I mentioned they had been restored the prospective buyers dropped tham like a hotcake. Most buyers would rather have something with holes, dents, bits missing, bent edges and then they have something they describe as "rustic". Whacko the did eh!

Reagrds, Rustycutters
