I have shown this figure before but have recently been given further info about it as follows.

These plaster figures were made in Fiddown in County Tipperary by the firm Egans under contact to John Player & Sons. Specifically made for the Irish market and in different County colours. They were also made without the "Player's"  cigarette advertising but they are not as collectible. Some have the original "Egans" stamp underneath.

My figure looks as though it has been sitting in some corner shop tobacconist in Ireland for many years. Some I have seen are in mint condition. The player in red is a "Hurler" in County Cork colours. The green/yellow figure is a "Gaelic" footballer in County Kerry colours. ( A  "Gaelic" footballer, could pick up the ball and kick it from their hands, but had to bounce the ball and kick it themselves every 3 steps or else give a free ball to their opponents.  ( I wonder if Liverpool might have got a better result yesterday by using "Gaelic" football rules????????? )
