I don't want to segregate our overseas mates, but this is a sign I think only the Aussie collectors can help with. A Douglas and Waratah enamel, double sided, post mount. Is it the real deal or a repro?? Did it originally come out as a post mount?? Any help would be appreciated. Gordo

Hi Gordo - just looking at the lettering spacing and size of the components of each letter makes me think it is suspact. If you consider how it is set out it doesn't 'flow' across the sign in a regular pattern.

I cannot imagine that Australian enamelling company of the time sending one out to this sort of standard unless they didn't have any quality control.

Believe it or not Steve the writng is almost identical to an original. I don't have a picture on hard drive of one , only in a book.

Not often I disagree with Steve, but it looks bang right to me even from thousands of miles away, Colour, depth of lettering etc.

Well if thats the style of writing an original has, and looking at the thickness of enamel coating where the letters and background interface, it probably ticks all the right boxes. That said I've never handled one before so its only my (revised) opinion. Sorry
