Hey Lummox
Thanks for remembering this posting and showing me the pipes.
I always wanted to be remembered for something during my lifetime but I never imagined it would be for Naga headhunters. I can't believe this thread is nearing 2,300 views. I imagine some of those views are by Naga collectors who Googled headhunting. I wonder if there is a Naga headhunter forum out there where one of the collectors is trying to sell his peers on the merits of collecting advertising items?
I still have more cultural stuff banging around the house. I decided to drag one of my bigger pieces outside for a cleaning and figured I would share it with anyone who cares. Bruce is in the picture to give some scale to the piece and because he thinks he is a show dog.
This is Kuan Yin (Guanyin) the Chinese goddess of compassion and caring. It is cast in iron and cold painted in enamels. It is a genuine piece that came out of a temple about 15 years ago. A dealer I know went to mainland China and brought back a container full of this kind of stuff. He also brought back a Chinese wife but she got to ride in an airplane. The Chinese have cracked down on the export of these kind of items in recent years so I was lucky to get it at the time.
