So, at £1,600 it didn't seem a bad buy, but add the 25% BP & VAT it brings it up to £2080. The best part of a third of the hammer price added on just for the privilege of buying at auction. The vendor will be lucky to get £1300 once all the chages on that side are deducted. Only one winner here it seems - L & T.

The buyers premium at my local auctions run at 11%, there would be up roar here, if it went up to 25%. I think the sellers fees run at 19.75%, like you said Steve that's 30%, that's a lot of negotiating room selling outside of an auction. I can understand why list in an auction, when an auction flys, anything can happen. I only put really good stuff in auctions, put a healthy reserve on and strap yourself in for the ride.

Thanx Fleece

Very nice !

Obviously you are right Ciggy but alot of vendors have still never heard or used ebay & alot of stuff going thru auctions is via probate and deceased estates
