Got this sign the other day and hated the poor paint infill job on the borders. I decided to bite the bullet and strip it off back to the way it was. Looks like the fella who restored it was AW, 83', I assume that was the year. I prefer signs in thier natural and honest condition so I think i made the right move. If I ever frame it, the chips woudl hardly be noticed.

Totally agree Mick. I take the same view when restoring the old telephones, just clean and protect them –if possible. Let the item share its past and tell you its story – warts and all. After all we are all just temporary custodians of these items in the end…

I couldn't live with it Al, it was a horrendous infill job, one for the wall of shame. Much happier with it now. I've never been into framing signs as of yet, but started thinking about it. What do you fellas reckon looks best? Oak, black others?

Signs look crap framed IMO, much better just as they are as thats how the majority of them were fixed to walls etc originally...
