And heres the reply:

I wouldn't be able to tell you the exact date that it was made but yes, it is definitely from around that time. It is an original tin produced by Huntley & Palmers that was filled with their famous biscuits and put into Children's' Christmas stockings, which is what makes it such a valuable item.

I live in Reading, which is where Huntley & Palmers was first established, and there are literally very few of these tins left because they are all collectors items and are kept in museums, so it is very rare and lucky to be able to get one to keep.

sample is 1926. First lithographed tin was printed in 1868 pretty well documented.
I've got a good example of the sample for £20 for sale

He's got another tin listed from " the peak of H & P 's output " suggesting an early date but its got the Huyton, Liverpool address on it. Rusty will put me right but I don't think this factory even opened until the 1950's did it ?
