 Hi Jez,

Picked up this Squadron Leader "Mixsture" version which has RAF roundels. Have not been able to identify the roundels on the "Curly Cut". I wonder if they could be Navy or maybe some forum member could identify them?????

I suspect artistic licence Bacco. The colourways swapped round. The Navy didnt have different roundels to the RAF or RFC.

 Hi Jez,

You may well be right or it could be to distinguish "Mixture" from "Curly-Cut" by colour. Would you agree that the Squadron Leader brand was introduced early 1920s?? and "Mixture" withdrawn about 1940 as I can't find any record after that date. The "Curly Cut" was still available in the 1970s according to price lists.

Thanks Lummox for showing. It certainly dis-proves my theory-It still begs the question why change the colour when surely original RAF "roundels" are used on most tins. I know Jez says "Poetic Licence" but I'm not convinced?????

 Hi Lummox,

Your quite right the French roundels were Red-White-Blue. Are we saying made for the French market although it is more orange than red????? It seems a lot more research needed!!!!!

Hello,

I was searching about Samuel Gawith tins etc and came across this thread and noticed a lot of talk about the Kendal Brown House. I am lucky enough to have access to the building and after having a good route (there was not much left) I found a few bits and bobs. Heres a picture of some of the items found...
