Hi AL,

I am sure that I have an advert for this particular brand so will dig it out. Is it a Blackburn company?? It is a "Super" tin.

Hi AL,

Found the advert for the "Honeyfall" Brand but it identifies the manufacturer as James Hargreaves. Further research shows that this firm was formed in 1864 and was at the King William St premises between 1870-1915.

Looking back I came across this thread, and the name James Hargreaves  came up, which rang a bell ,and so I am posting this very crude tin. This site is becoming a good archive. cheers Broadie.

Hi Broadie,

Like "Tester", I have not come across that brand before. Did the outside have a paper label?? I did come across some James Hargraves- Tobacco Storage Jars. They are very heavy and approx 14" high X 9" across. They are a glazed stoneware with tin lids and nicely decorated. Pictures posted.

Hi Bacco I like your jars, I bet they look good in your shop, have they got Hargreaves on them ?. Al's tin and your jars are so decorative it would seem to me that my tin may be war time what do you think? cheers Broadie.

Hi Broadie & Woodbine.

Thanks for showing the tin. I have tried to trace the brand but have been unable to find any reference at the moment. The James Hargreaves Storage Jars are owned by Blackburn Museum who kindly allowed me to photograph the jars in their store-room during my research on this company. They do not have James Hargreaves on them. See photo.
