Absolutely spectacular!

A stunning collection and wonderful display.

Many thanks for the close-ups as well, what beautiful stuff!

I found myself drooling over the unopened plugs - the one in the blue packet was made by Murray's Belfast and was the last Irish-made Mic Mac because British American Tobacco decided to shutter the Murray factory and outsource pipe tobacco production to Orlik in Denmark --- where it's still made today.

I was lucky to find an old unopened cutter top like the one you have but it was for the Square Cut instead of Ready Rubbed. I opened it to smoke but  time had not been kind to the essence flavoring and had perhaps mutated, it tasted like a sort  of men's cologne!
The stuff being made today has a more almond with brandy notes flavor.

There's a lovely little book regarding Carroll's which has some great old photographs, I love the cover image of the gent shoulder-holding the old crate,
Mick for Me!
It is available as an ibook:
itunes.apple.com/us/book/dundalk-at...d735262263

But if like me you aren't ultramodern with all the technology gadgets, there was an actual real book published as well. I contacted the publisher and a very helpful Fiona searched the stockroom and she found a few copies, one of which was sent my way -- the publisher is Dundalgan Press.
https://www.facebook.com/dundalganpress/

Would anyone here happen to know when the change was made from "young" Mick to "old" Mick?

Here's one of the earliest adverts I've come across...

Congrats on the Spearman tin, what a great find!
That's a scarce one!
Very rarely seen.
The also made it in a plug (bar) version.

PS
If you're in Ireland and frequently go to jumbles or antique shops, I would pay nicely for any Ruddell's Velvan Plug materials you may come across.

Good God Almighty!

I have not seen that before and it is truly spectacular!

Thank you for posting an image of it, made my heart skip a beat.

If perhaps you may be interested in letting it go, please contact me.

I'm currently in a tizzy because they discontinued production of Velvan Plug last week and it's just about all that I smoke anymore --- the new EU TPD and UK regulations concerning tobacco are very harsh and pipe tobacco is not fairing well...

 Hi Jugs R Us,

Nice showcard, not one I have come across before. I take it that "Velvan"  is one of your favourite tobacco philofumo.

I was in over looking at your tobacco display, twice now, a fantastic collection, best of luck with all.
