Hi.....I have been looking to add to my collection of A Baker and Son tins to suppliment the two Vagabond's, Houris, Nutt's, Selim II, King Bruce and one of the variations of a King Lear. Apart from my tinny collection I also have a fair number of Pre 1920's ciggy cards. On recent review of my collection I came across an old A Baker card (see below) that detailed a listing of it's cigarette brands. I am aware of the Blue Stocking brand but I have not seen or heard of three of them, namely the Medina, Thebes and Tamerlane brands. Anyone out there hiding any of these?

Great graphics on that card. The only thing I have is a Houris lid. I'd like to see the tins you mentioned.

 Hi Bevand,

I have not seen a "Medina", "Thebes" and "Tarmarlane", however, they may have just been sold as loose cigarettes. Can you post picture of your "Vagabonds" as it is new one to me. Their "Great Auk" is ne of the Nicest tins although mine is a bit pitted and the "Houris" distressed.

Good call on the three named brands Bacco that could have just been packets.

Also thank you for a view of your Baker boys.

I am away until next week so I'll take a piccy of what I have and upload on my return.

 Hi Bevand,

Another Baker & Co tin and one I have not seen before. This "Little Papoose" cigarette tin also advertises "Birds Eye" brand but can't find it listed and think it may describe the tobacco which was produced without removing the midrib of the leaf. The leaf is then cut or shredded at right angles to the midrib and the cross-sections of the midrib appear like so many bird' eyes. It is a very nice tin and unfortunately not mine.

Nice find Bacco from your archives and for the education.

Another one to add to my ever growing want list!!!...

I'll upload my Baker bits and bobs next week as I'm up to my neck getting things ready for our first litter of puppies in a couple of weeks time.

Still aware that I need to upload some piccies of my tins plus a newly acquired Blue Stocking Perique Mixture Tin rescued from the US. Although finding the time with five 6 week old Shih Tzu puppies getting into all kinds of mischief is a limiting factor!!!!
