This nice "Boar's Head" tobacco tin was manufactured by Pritchard & Burton's. This is a very old company trading as "Pritchard & Lloyd" in 1824 and were described as Snuff & Segar Merchants. In 1853, Alfred Burton married into the Pritchard family and in the early 1870s the company became known as Pritchard & Burton's based at Victoria Rd,, Acton, London N.W.10. The "Boar's Head" was registered as the firms trade mark in 1870 and also as a brand name. Some other tobacco/cigarettes brand names were "Sweet Curly Cut", - "Goody's Mixture", - "Cornstalk", - "Hearts Delight" etc etc.

Considering how long they have been in business, I have not come across many of their items. Have other forum members any of this firms items to show????

Nice tin. I'm pretty sure I don't have anything by P&B.

I did have have one of those yellow ones Cook Jnr, the big box version, well beaten. One of the first things I sold on ebay.
