 This little sign had an outing on ebay a few years back - but no takers. I came across it again at one of the Hemswell centres and negotiated an acceptable price. I bought it more for the relevance to the social climate at the time it was produced rather than its condition and design. There was a period before and around WW1 when there was a backlash by British traders against foreign goods, most notably from Germany obviously. Has quite a patriotic message. Quite a small size so I guess it may have been on a hand-cart or similar.

'Halal' refers to the way the animal is killed rather than from where it is sourced. In this country most Halal meat is English meat.

As for dog meat in this country, I've never tried it to be honest, but if you say that it is substandard I'll take your word for it!

If the above sign was on display today in any local town im quite sure that the owner would be told by local jobs worths to take it down as it could offend some people with sensitive tiny minds..O and by the way as for any of my comments been racist then i have to disagree and apologise to any body who is offended...
