No all his other stuff is obviously a pile of sh*t. I just remember a sign like this being discussed earlier this year. And opinion was very divided. |

just took a picture of mine-has a clear date 11/09 in bottom right hand corner and clear makers name in the left corner.I think the one on fleabay was a repro imo but should easy fool the untrained eye-clearly no comparison.Cheers from the land downunder |

Yes but I wasn't comparing that one with that one davidsigns. The Stainton and Hulme sign is clearly turn of the last century. I was just saying that the other sign could conceivably be a 20 year later version of the old design, made by an obscure manufacturer. |

I'm basically agreeing with you Banjo Boy. But if anyone can be bothered - have a look at a thread from earlier this year - titled Really??? (Or something like that; which you started Banjo Boy), in which the authenticity or not of a very similar sign is discussed. And no unanimous verdict is reached. |

I'm not trying to reel anyone in... Was just saying that in a previous thread a virtually identical sign was splitting opinion about 50/50 as to its authenticity.

We could argue about this all day long , I suppose. But if you look at the picture Banjo has just posted , which the seller describes as "older reproduction", then go back to the thread in January (Really?) the two signs are subtly different. For washing clothes is too far to the right, and For washing up is not far enough to the right. Use the big " O and N out of the word Hudsons as a guide. I think Tykey was correct as was Alex when he said "wrong in every way"..To me the one in the "Really?" thread is the only genuine one.Any one else got any thoughts? |

So much of this crap selling on ebay at the moment, another example is a frys cocoa sign being listed today with " emperial enamel" as a makers name which might fool a lot of people !! Also on the listing seller mentioned about being away till the 16th Dec so I asked them if they were going to India to buy more of this crap ? No reply yet |
