That’s a fantastic pictorial sign Tupper. Something you just picked up? Unfortunately it’s a bit too big for mi casa. Unless that’s a very small sofa!

timing is an interesting thing, on the 31st of december Duncan put up a picture of his Ransomes sign, which my reply was, if you ever decide to sell it I might be interested. That got me thinking, so I contacted Preston services to see if they still had any left for sale. Well last week I decided to buy sign no 1, for those of you who got the original list back in 2007. They originally had 18 different signs, Tuppers sign was no.6, Duncans no.10, pictures of the signs before restorations are interesting to look at.

One thing I found interesting is how the clouds in the sky differed on all the signs.

Interesting that the three images on the right-hand side go off the edge and those on the left have a clear margin beyond. The sign doesn't appear to have been cut so I wonder if the litho transfer has slipped in production and it got past quality control?

Good pick up Steve, must have been made on a Friday, couldn't wait for the weekend. Hang on, did they even get weekends off back then ??

My Ransomes arrived the other day. I thought that I would be giving it a bit of a resto, but I am actually liking it the way it is. What a magnificent sign in the flesh😀

A mate of mine came around to see my Ransomes, he loves it so much he wants one too.

So if anyone out there is thinking of selling one, please contact me at texaco77@iprimus.com.au
