Aha there you are Ken... thought this thread would get you out of that rocking chair! Not seen that Ogdens before in your collection. Its a real stunner. How about showing us all your Cadbury's ships?
Here's a starter...
Not Cadbury's but "American LIne" cigarette tin to encourage an ex-Sailor to show some of his nice ship tins.
bacco
Sorry Brian , anything BUT a ship, but another of my favourites
lummox
Splendid 'American Line' tin there Bacco and another beauty from you Ross. Never seen that one before! Here's my favourite ship tin, acquired from 'Cookster Snr' many moons ago. Inner lid promotes both the Britannic & Olympic steamers.
I must confess Bacco, it is a paper label tin and the only tin in my collection with a reversed lid..I considered it rare enough to do . This, plus with four open corners it was pretty straightforward..I would appreciate your thoughts on the Wills. There is nothing on the sides to indicate whether it was tobacco or cigarettes > I assume the 1911 coronation..Nice colours (Cannot find how to stop the muliple pictures )
Wouldn't the 1911 coronation be for George V andQueen Mary ?
yes.. ..Crowned in 1901..so the tin is 119 years old..I was hoping with advances in medicine to reach this age..now with my COPD i just hope to get through the next two years
My favourite of the Lyon's Transport series.
I'm looking for a 'British Ships' in good nick if anyone has one.
Not the most pricey tin out there but i just love image..
Nice little tin that Banjo. Here's one of my better ebay finds. Its much much smaller than the usual oval toffee's but not a miniature. A rare find.
We all start somewhere. Found this pic the other day. Its the beginnings of my tin collection c1976. A shelf in the first house I bought for 3.5k. I was earning 40 quid a week back then and picking up tins from local junk shops when there were plenty of them around - long before the arrival of charity shops or car boot sales. There's nothing at all exciting there but things began to change and all this lot was sold to pub decorators to fund some better quality purchases.
And you certainly did improve your collection Brian ! circa 1987
