Lets compare with one of the repros which have been circulating and selling on ebay for about the last 3 years at anywhere from about £300 to £750. One seller's dad found one of these 10 different times in an old Barn in the 1950's ....how lucky was that !!
anyway here goes ........................

Sorry Gents , have to disagree with you . One , the steel is very thin, Two ,there is very little depth to the enamel ,Three , that image was only ever used on Flag signs (double-siders) .If somene has such a sign and posts a picture , you'll see the difference in quality immediately . All those flat ones are copies . |

Morning all,
My 2 penneth , for what its worth is that all 4 that are on ebay at the moment are made to deceive rubbish,
My golden rule is - it takes 50,60, 70 years for that deep brown almost black rust to form , try all you like to replicate to deceive, but you end up with that light reddish rust , I dont think you can cheat time on this one.
Guess they will fool some unfortunatley, but i will keep my money in my pocket.
As i say just my opinion.

The one that vintage automobilia is offering is right. This is a classic example of what happens to the genuine signs when flooding the market with crap copies. I also know Doug the seller he’s reputable and a decent bloke to deal with - I’ve l dealt with him at Beaulieu. He runs a Facebook page for automobilia too. So no worries there. Jez |

Thanks Ross. Quality thing that is . Note that it reads "super lubricant " and not " super lubricants " And two black shields with white letterng that are missing from the flat sign . I rest my case . |

... But UNFORTUNATELY the plot thickens because there was a double sider that sold at Richard edmonds Auctions in Mar 2016 ....that did indeed say LUBRICANT(S) with the S ?
