Hi Kreemy_nut,

Thought there would have been quite a few posts for this company. Anyway, the company Salmon & Gluckstein (S&G) formed in the 1860s from the existing Gluckstein Family Company and Mr Salmon through marriage joined the company which eventually named S & G. In the late 1890s, the company became more wholesale and retail with 180 shops in 1901. Through the formation of the I.T.C, the company S & G eventually came under their umbrella and played an important part in providing members with retail outlets in order to sell their products. This also prevented the American Tobacco Company who had bought out Ogden's  from also taking over  S & G.

I have not seen any of their showcards but would be nice if forum members could show samples of this companies brands. They had some quite attractive tins and packets. I have posted a couple of my tins. There are variations to the "Lifeboat" tin.

An unusual version of the little Life Boat tin and a nice High & Dried. Not mine unfortunately.
