WOW! Thought this thread might bring out a big gun or two but we've just seen a BATTLESHIP arrive on site! And we finally get a glimpse at the super RARE Mountain Heatherdew Flake... Many thanks Andy, what a remarkable collection and I suspect this is just the tip of the iceberg? There's several tins there I have never seen before... look forward to hearing Bacco's comments on some of the tins. FB |

Hi FB,
Your quite right Andy has a mega collection and superbly displayed in some very nice Tobacco/Cigarette cabinets. I have seen them a few times and must be due another visit to gloat over some of his rarer ones, such as that Gawith "Road & Rail" - Hignett's "Tulip Flake" - Singleton & Cole, "Heavy Dragoon" and Baker & Co "Selim 11" to name but a few. And this represents just a small part of his collection and he also has some very nice showcards. I have always liked this Wood's of Preston tobacco tin posted.

(Broadie also has a super collection)

I have VERY FORTUNATELY also seen Andy's Collection in the flesh. After passing a lie detector test, gaining entrance through a secret underground tunnel whilst blindfolded, and finally through a couple of steel padlocked doors................. I can tell you it is mind bogglying ( is that even a word ) stupendous !! lummox |

Love that Tommy Atkins. Look at the condition of the 'Sandy Hook'. Golden Spray a lovely tin. I've never seen or known of a Mountain Heatherdew coming up for sale... always wanted one of those.
I know its not rare but this Belle has always been a firm favourite of mine...

I only live up the road from Andy and his tins always take my breath away every time I’m allowed up there. And yes Broadie’s collection isn’t too shabby either. If you’re up in Yorkshire there’s three of us worth dropping by to see. (My collection is definitely in the shadows of those two!). And we’ll make you a cuppa. Mind you bring biscuits if you DO call by! |

Hi Jez,
Take you up on that next time I visit York. I'll bring the "Digestives". That "Woodland Belle" is a nice tin FB. Have posted this "Purple Heather" tin by Woods of Preston which my friend purchased from a well known dealer at last Elsecar Fair. It is in super condition, much better than mine

Hi FB,
That "Tiger Lily" is in super condition very nice. This Hignett's "Night & Morning" two flakes, representing both dark and light tobacco is a nice early tin. Brand introduced in 1890 to 1910

Lovely tin Bacco. This 'Stirling Castle' was a memorable buy at a small fleamarket some years ago. The seller apologised at having to request the full ticket price of £18 with no trade! It was my lucky day!!!
